Interview: an interview with New county teacher Wang to learn about the spread of Chinese culture in New Zealand
Interviews:
Brother Jian Shi's last meeting was in the late autumn of 16 years. After Shouli's new book was published, we agreed to plan a Beijing Book of changes Reading Club, which ran aground because of brother Jian Shi's visit to Auckland. After the Beijing performance was released, brother Jian Shih left a message, "I'll open the rudder in Auckland." I said, "Okay, go back to Beijing." he replied, "now Beijing, return to Oakland two days later," and immediately set up an appointment to meet in the morning.

In July, 16, Wang Jianshi participated in the cultural and traditional platform and Schumacher School of the United Kingdom organized a civilizational dialogue, volunteer translation.

In December, 16, Wang Jianshi's interpretation of the Book of changes, the Book of changes key, new book launch, the picture is the scene of questions.
During his one and a half year trip to Auckland, he accepted invitations from many New Zealand public welfare organizations, Chinese organizations, private schools and government agencies, and gave more than 100 lectures on various Chinese cultural themes. He also hosted more lectures and cultural events to spread Chinese culture while maintaining a stable livelihood. The cultural environment of foreign lands is complex. Chinese people have to rely on self-financing for their adherence to cultural traditions. Brother Jian Shi told us that it is not easy to do so. Of course, there are a lot of interesting news, I was quite moved, so in the farewell to brother Jianshi issued an invitation: "I seriously draw up a few questions, your serious words answer, introduce the Chinese culture in The reality of Oakland. " Then there is the following dialogue.
Wenzhuan: how about New Zealand and the distribution and immigration of Chinese in New Zealand? And why did you change your WeChat name to " New county teacher. Wang"?
Wang Jianshi: new Zealand is a small country in the southern hemisphere near Australia. It covers an area of 270000 square kilometers, 30 percent of which is a national park, slightly larger than the United Kingdom, but with a population of only 4.69 million. Has always been one of the most livable countries in the world, known as the last piece of pure land on Earth. New Zealanders call themselves Kiwi-New Zealand birds, looking very cute, can not fly, good at running, like living in seclusion, personality timid mild. It symbolizes the character of the New Zealanders. Kiwi is also a kiwi fruit, in fact, kiwifruit from China, where it takes root and has been improved. Because long with Kiwi bird, so also called Kiwi fruit. New Zealand English is New Zealand, Zealand, originally a province of the Netherlands, when the Dutch East India Company's ships discovered the place and named it New Zealand. New Zealand is another transliteration, because New Zealand has developed agriculture and is a country with more sheep than people. Therefore, Chinese in New Zealand laugh that this is New Zealand. I am talking about Chinese culture in New Zealand. Of course, it is teacher Wang in New County.

Compared with the United States, Canada and Australia, there are not many Chinese in New Zealand, most of whom live in Auckland, New Zealand's largest city. The Chinese population of New Zealand is roughly divided into four categories: Nanyang workers in the early 19th-century gold rush era, war refugees from Southeast Asia and Europe during World War II, and ethnic Chinese, Hong Kong, and Taiwan immigrants from Southeast Asia in the mid-1990s. The last wave is the mainland Chinese residents who have stayed through immigration and studying abroad since the late 1990s. With the tightening of immigration policies in other major immigration countries, New Zealand has relied on its political and cultural advantages in recent years. It has become a popular destination for Chinese immigrants. Nowadays, the wealth and business opportunities brought by Chinese immigrants and tourists have greatly enriched the local economy of New Zealand, and the social, economic and cultural aspects of Chinese in New Zealand have been accepted and recognized by the local Kiwi.

Wen Zhuan Jun: please give a brief introduction to the proportion of New Zealand Chinese and the forms and ways in which Chinese culture is presented.
New Zealand is a multi-racial country with a white-British population and a more liberal democracy. Chinese now outnumber Indians in fourth place, second only to British, Maori and Pacific Islander. The local Chinese have their own development and inheritance in food culture, Qin Qi calligraphy and painting, poetry couplet, music martial arts, traditional lantern riddles and so on, and have been loved and sought after by many local Kiwi. Chinese restaurants everywhere in New Zealand, especially Guang-style morning tea, are popular among foreigners and Maori. A large number of folk dance martial arts and arts groups, but also vigorous development, frequent Appeared in the local mainstream media, grand celebrations, and attracted a lot of local Kiwi children and mixed children to participate in, imperceptibly spread the Chinese dance, martial arts, music and other colorful cultural and artistic forms.

Although Chinese New year is not a statutory holiday in New Zealand, most Chinese businesses here will have a holiday on the same day. Every Spring Festival, New Zealand Chinese-populated cities will have a corresponding celebration. In Auckland, not only will the city's landmarks, the Sky Tower, continue to show red neon lights during the Chinese New year, but Chinese television stations and overseas Chinese organizations will also hold a grand Spring Festival flower market. The biggest event for the Chinese is the Lantern Festival, which is much bigger than New year concerts and Christmas parades. The main characters of the lantern show are not only hundreds of carefully crafted lanterns in China, but also dozens of inside the sea. The participation of foreign Chinese art groups in the four-day and four-night performance provides a platform for local Chinese and participants of all nationalities to display the arts and culture, and brings a carnival of Chinese culture to the people of Auckland.

In addition, in New Zealand every year there are China Culture week, China Film Festival and other cultural events. The capital, Wellington, has a Chinese cultural center, and Auckland has a Confucius Institute and two Chinese medicine universities, Tai Chi, Yong Chun, and Wudang. Shaolin and other martial arts schools also set up associations or martial arts. In general, cultural exchanges between China and New Zealand have flourished in recent years. As the Ambassador to New Zealand has said, there is a situation in which "officials and the people go hand in hand, participate in many ways, appreciate the elegance and blossom in a hundred flowers".
Wen Zhuan Jun: what is the attitude of the Chinese to Chinese culture and the attitude of the non-Chinese to the Chinese culture?
Due to the influence and influence of various cultural activities, both Chinese and non-Chinese have a positive attitude towards Chinese culture. Many Kiwi participate in Chinese dance and martial arts, Qin Qi calligraphy and painting and other fields of study, not only Kiwi students, but also many foreign teachers are spreading Chinese culture, such as my Kiwi friend, Danny, is a 30 years of feng shui master, Cultural lectures are organized several times a year, and most of the participants are foreigners who are enthusiastic about Chinese culture.

(brother Jian Shi, teacher Danny and teacher Yu Xin) (brother Jian Shi and Wu Men painting School Dean Liu)
There are many foreigners who are interested in Chinese philosophy. Last year, I spoke in English for Kiwi at the Auckland National Library, and the audience responded well. Strive to make further efforts this year to speak a series of English Chinese culture courses.

(鑒石兄在給Kiwi講中國文化)(brother Jian Shi is telling Kiwi about Chinese culture)
What are the characteristics of the development and inheritance of Chinese culture in Auckland?
In Auckland, the main force in the spread of folk Chinese culture is mainly religious groups, such as Foguang Mountain, founded by Master Nebula, which has become a tourist attraction in Auckland and a window for Kiwi to learn about Chinese culture. Every year will continue to carry out various cultural activities, to promote Chinese culture to pay a lot of efforts.

(鑒石兄帶領(lǐng)學(xué)員在佛光山游學(xué))(brother Jian Shi leads students to study in Foguang Shan)
The main forms of cultural communication are, of course, educational and training institutions for children and young people of all kinds of Chinese learning, classical reading, Chinese dance and Chinese painting, go class.

(brother Jian Shi leads the Chinese children in Auckland to learn Chinese culture.)
In terms of cultural inheritance and development, many provinces and cities in China have their own local associations, sparing no effort to promote their local culture. For example, the Shaoxing Guild in Auckland hosted a large-scale cultural event in Shaoxing, New Zealand, last year, during which the "Story of the Lanting" exhibition and calligraphy exchange were held at the invitation of the president. I also prepared a special "Lanting Preface and Wang Xizhi" lecture, to tell you the story behind the Orchid Pavilion.

(brother Jian Shi and former President of Shaoxing Club, New Zealand)
Another example of martial arts, in New Zealand, many Chinese martial arts schools have their own branch associations. For example, Master Cui Limin, president of the New Zealand Zhaobu Taijiquan Association, which I participated in, is the 13th successor of Zhao Bao Taijiquan. He leads everyone to fight boxing every morning. While inheriting the tradition, he created the "simple Thirteen style Zhao Bao Tai Chi." In order to follow the old friends to learn boxing can quickly get started. At the same time, in order to facilitate the promotion of Zhao Bao Tai Chi, the core philosophy of "mindfulness", as the English translation of boxing, many Kiwi students run "Mindfulness Taiji" through every movement. Practice and benefit from it. For this purpose, I also specially chaired Zhao Bao Tai Chi video lecture, as well as Chinese and English bilingual propaganda film production.

In recent years, the new immigrants from New Zealand who are engaged in cultural and artistic activities have spontaneously formed a cultural community, holding lectures, exchanges, studies, elegant collections, and creating a good atmosphere of Chinese cultural learning.
(Teacher Wang explains the cultural connotations behind the Guqin in a collection of New Zealand's "traverses".)
(Mr. Newcomura Wang explains the cultural connotations behind the Guqin in a collection of New Zealand's "traverses".)
In the past two years, I have organized more than 100 cultural events with lectures and elegant collections. Invited and organized a number of New Zealand local cultural personages for reader meetings, pen sessions, antique appreciation sessions, as well as lectures on classics, changes of study, and poetry in Chinese painting. Before and after there are tens of thousands of people participated in the activities I participated in the organization. I was also invited to teach dozens of lectures in national libraries, charitable organizations, social organizations and enterprises. Through my own experience of spreading Chinese culture in New Zealand, I felt the Chinese identity and desire for Chinese culture. In this multicultural country, only by maintaining one's own culture can one truly Is winning respect. The activities I hosted are quite diverse, such as the Mid-Autumn Festival party, the singles club, the reading club, the elegant collection, and so on.

Wenzhuan Jun: do you accept pure classics over there?
Wang Jianshi: there are several teachers who have been insisting on pure classical education for many years. Most of them are Taiwanese teachers. I have participated in the classical learning activities of two of the teachers. I saw that the students were very enthusiastic about learning and that the classrooms of 20 people were completely filled. They range from 9 to 70 and come from different industries. The one closest to me was Mr. Zhang Sihai, a teacher from Taiwan, who had already talked about "University", "the mean" and "Wang Yangming's study of the mind" in the Confucian Heart Society he founded. I have just told you the "Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra" in the Society. We have a high enthusiasm for learning, and I believe we will go together for a long journey.

In fact, it is not difficult to find that under the background of New Zealand's multicultural development, most of what people see is the external manifestation of Chinese culture. Whether it is Qin and Qi calligraphy or painting, cheongsam, song and dance, the apparent cultural prosperity is not really prosperous. Chinese culture is a culture that refers directly to the human heart and leads us to follow the guidance of the sages towards consciousness. It would be a pity to stay on the surface. Pure classic education has a long way to go. Fortunately, a few teachers in Taiwan have a great heart in the persevering dissemination of Chinese culture. As a teacher of Chinese studies from the mainland, I do feel that I am far from it.
Wenzhuan Jun: what courses have you developed, how do you integrate Chinese cultural ideas into activities and curriculum design?
Wang Jianshi: I have run a series of courses on the Book of changes of 64 hexagram courses, the interpretation of thousands of characters course, Mei Hua Yi number course, these three classes are workshop nature, need a long time to learn. In order to make everyone interested in Chinese culture, seminars are usually held on hot events or for different groups to explain the relevant content. For example, to talk about Zhou Yi and emotional stress management for community Chinese, Shaoxing Zhou to Wang Xizhi, Premier election to predication principle, art exhibition to geomantic water and Chinese painting art. When New Zealand produced a false master who cheated money, I talked about the Republic of China's fortune-telling river and lake. I also speak for friends of the Rotary Club. The allusions of the turn and the Book of changes explain the cultural connotation behind the guqin and guzheng for the Chinese classical music lovers. As a matter of fact, the wisdom of Chinese culture can embody its value in every aspect, so it is not difficult to explain it, and it is easy for everyone to resonate and think. In addition, I also combined Chinese wisdom, from a new interpretation of several books I found helpful after reading, including, "break away", "tear down the wall of thinking", "A brief history of the future", "the wisdom of the heart", and so on. What's more, I gave a talk to Chinese children in combination with the imaginal thinking of the Book of changes. Thinking method course-mind Map is also trying to link up with the new generation of Chinese in this way.

Wang Jianshi: referring to cultural difficulties, first of all, we have financial and human difficulties. Most of them are teachers who give lectures out of their own pocket, and students volunteer to help organize them. Organizations with religious backgrounds can often hold large events, but at present we still have Yu Li's shortcomings. Secondly, more than religious organizations, cultural transmission requires perseverance and continuous learning. Belief is not the end, but just the beginning. In addition, the Christian faith of New Zealand Chinese has great influence, and the religious people who do not understand the cultural tradition may be mistaken for the issue of "spiritual warfare". Fortunately, I'm working with church agencies now. Chinese cultural curriculum, in line with the principle of seeking common ground and respecting differences, will inevitably find more consensus. Finally, the younger generation of Chinese, many of whom were born locally, were already unfamiliar with Chinese culture, and most could not be said to write. It was very difficult for them to read the classics. Among my good friends, there is a great demand for Chinese language training for Chinese children and domestic textbooks. Unfortunately, the school capacity is limited, and most of the children's Chinese learning is still a big problem. It is hoped that more institutions and organizations will provide development and education funds to improve the popularization of Chinese culture for the younger generation of overseas Chinese.

Wenzhuan Jun: which people are better off in the cultural circle over there?
Wang Jianshi: among the intellectuals around me, there are probably three types: 1. Life is carefree: wealth is free, time is free, living standard is high. For example, in the north shore, there was a Cho-chin teacher who had no worries about his early business life, but not just for the sake of economic interests. He was always welcome to learn and learn the piano, but he was determined not to sell it directly to him. I asked him to give a lecture for the students, and his answer was, wouldn't that be famous? There are many teachers in New Zealand who are good at one skill, such as dancing, painting, martial arts, Guqin and so on. Teachers are international standards, in this perennial recruitment and training of talent. Talent: new Zealand is a place for high hermits, such as Gu Cheng who recluded on Torrent Island to write poetry, and Hou Dejian who lived in Christchurch to study feng shui at home. I know a 16-year-old young man from a small town in Sichuan Province. He learned Guqin at the age of nine, was full of poems and books, and had a strong foundation in studying Chinese. I know him to listen to the story behind his ancient harp song "Liquor Mad" in English, and I can see it clearly. When he came to New Zealand at the age of 14, his teacher failed Southwest Jiaotong University, and now he has turned directly to the American Ivy League. His Auckland club has a large number of students, He listens to paid courses(DEDAO), and now He wants to start a business on the Internet and show my talents in many fields.

Wenzhuan Jun: what are your plans for the next step, or what are your appeals?
Wang Jianshi: my next step is to develop more online and offline courses to promote Chinese culture overseas as far as I can. One of the most important plays is the planned production of a media program to introduce New Zealand's history and culture from a Chinese perspective. Now the content is basically ready. The topics are about Maori history and mythology, and how European civilization and Maori culture blend. Democracy in New Zealand today and so on. Of course, the future of the most wanted to do the Chinese language and Zhouyi, there have been some attempts, is moving forward step by step. What's more, I have been lecturing in Malaysia this year, and I hope that I will come from China. Course invitation. Many friends asked me why I wanted to go abroad for cultural heritage. I want to say that China has never been a geographical concept. A more specific plan is to launch a Chinese version of the intensive lectures on the Chinese version of the hexagram lines, the English version of a series of lectures on Chinese culture, a series of video teaching programmes and a bilingual book explaining the Book of changes with Jerry teacher in Malaysia. I am here to appeal to you to pay attention to the Chinese cultural heritage overseas, your support will make us more powerful!
