Woman . Wine
By Aibaihe (China)
Translated by Ken Fan (Hongkong)
A gush of burgundy tidewave,
From a crystal glass,
Engulfs those lips so dry and withered.
Little by little,
Blood vessels turn into elevated rivers.
The body, light as a duckweed leaf,
Swirls in rapid water.
How I yearn
For a pair of muscular hands,
That would rescue me forcefully from a spiral dizziness,
And haul me onto a lone canoe.
He and I would float down the stream,
To a secluded paradise,
Where there would be only blooming flowers and chimney smoke.
Let me drown then,
Life means nothing at all,
Let me become a river soul.
The currents would carry my dying corpse
To seek the moonlight over lotus so still,
And to make up blemished dreams at nightfall.
Oh wine, with your power so magical,
Would loosen up my limps and nerves,
And bury all my pains and regrets
Into the winter's chill.
Oh wine, burn me alright.
All those worms in my blood vessels,
Are devouring my poor soul,
While barn grass on my body grow wild.
Oh wine, please burn me right away, and burn.
Out of ashes,
A new birth is being heralded.

Woman . Dance
By Aibaihe (China)
Translated by Ken Fan (Hongkong)
Cool breezes, filling both sleeves, like silk,
Gently dance to old verses, rhythmic and mindful.
Pondering over splended words in poetry,
The nib of a brush
Sketches on white papers, sensitive and sensible.
Here's a play about the King and his beloved,
The beauty and the land are sillouetted among those poetic lines,
teary and lyrical.
Light tune, tender fingers
And a slender pen are composing wretched poems about the crescent moon,
That could be literally about myself.
Dancing, not an implicit game anymore,
Becomes an utter indulgence of a fearless gal.
The tragic truth of life and death,
Intertwining, no longer an issue of endless toil.
All the makeups are coming off,
Peacocks fly south in couples.
Chanting the love songs of a thousand years,
Life has reached its halfway,
And kept me awake for a while.
Dancing as ever, and sweating all over,
Nothing but sad and miserable.
