Chinese Calligraphy
The Chinese writing brush
Dances like dragon and phoenix…
Zhuan, Li, Kai script,
With charm, gracefully stroll;
Xing and Cao script
Fly like fairies and immortals.
Inkstone and ink touch each other with bare heart;
Paper and pen caress each other with love.
Between black and white
Goes the beauty of nature with moon and breezes,
With Chinese poems flowing,
Long or short,
Happy or sad,
Always in dreams
Lingering around Lanting Pavilion,
Like clouds and smoke.
Notes:
1.Zhuan, Li, Kai script, Xing and Cao script are all ancient writing styles of Chinese calligraphy.
2.Lanting, located at the foot of Lanzhu mountain, 13 kilometers southwest of Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, is the garden residence of Wang Xizhi, a Saint of Chinese calligraphy in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. He wrote the famous Preface to Lanting Collection(蘭亭集序)here.

Chinese Painting
For that lingering love
Around mountains and waters
In Luoshen Painting
The Nymph has been seeking…
For 1600 years
She walked to the Tang Dynasty
And asked the Tang Palace Ladies and the Five Bulls.
Alone she attended Han Xizai’s Banquet for the Evening.
Covering Thousands of Miles of Rivers and Mountains,
She dwelled on the Fuchun Mountains
Until Spring Dawned in Han Palace.
Finally, she rode one of
All the Pretty Horses
And came to the Riverside at Qingming.
Flying over All Mountains Red,
She passed through Nine Creeks and Eighteen Gullies.
Weeping by the Love Lake,
She only heard Frogs Croak Ten Miles out of Mountain Spring
Shimmering with tears of stars
But seeing no sign of her sweetheart,
The King…

Chinese Qigong
I let myself fall
To the tranquil mountains.
Closing slightly my eyes,
I concentrate on Dan Tian,
Letting clouds take all my distracting thoughts away
And breezes cleanse me of all.
Be quiet, be quiet, be quiet…
Let purple Qi gather at Baihui,
With which
I tour around the universe--
The Upper Dan Tian
Middle Dan Tian
And Lower Dan Tian.
Relax, relax, relax…
In dream I see both vessels of Ren and Du
Opened up…
Notes:
1.qigong(氣功), a system of deep breathing exercises
2.Dan Tian(丹田), and Baihui(百會(huì)) are acupoints in human body believed to be important to people’shealth.

Chinese Festivals
Like the string of Buddha beads
In the hand of the elder,
Are Chinese festivals,
One heavier than the other.
From Qingming to Dragon Boat Festival,
From Mid-Autumn to Spring Festival,
We count them back and forth,
As autumn goes and winter comes.
Forever,
The moon waxes and wanes,
With joy and sorrow,
Less reunions
And more separations.

Chinese Tableware
A bowl,
Containing your joy and my sorrow
And filled with spring, summer, autumn and winter,
Expects timely wind and rain.
A dish,
On which stuff piled up is half void and half real
With mountains above, and streams below,
Has blue smoke and white clouds curling up.
A pair of chopsticks,
Picking up the luck of both yours and mine
And tasting sour, sweet, bitter and spicy,
Weighs up the lightness and heaviness of life
A spoon,
Touching the hot and cool of the world
Scooping up the cold and warm of human,
Mixes the saltiness of the day.
A wine glass,
In which the ups and downs of life ripple,
With each drop in tears,
Ends up only with a game and a dream.
