Snow loves the winter’s plum;
Swallows delight in fresh mud;
The moon’s drunk, a small sum.
All the ice breaks, all to thaw,
The streams curve and bend more.
The long songs, the short sighs,
They tend to fall and rise.
Time flows as waters flow,
Now all the flowers blow.
Yet frost and wind hasten my white hair to grow.
As the sun descends,
Regret for youth that ends,
Horses can’t make amends.
Time goes on to admit wax and wane.
Suddenly, in dreams,
New buds appear on new twigs fain.
Afraid to start the sleeping worm,
The song ceases its strain,
As I climb up, I stop,
My joy turns into pain.
Mountains remain verdant,
Though I have crossed the sea.
With my staff and straw sandals, I stroll free.
Resting on the East Slope,
I hark to the brook’s endless note,
The thunder’s vernal quote.

萬俊人，筆名巴君，湖南岳陽人，現(xiàn)清華大學(xué)文科資深教授，教授一級，教育部長江學(xué)者特聘教授，刋有《悠齋清吟》等。 WAN Junren, Gentleman Hope by pen name, a native of Yueyang, Hunan Province. The poet is a senior professor of liberal arts at Tsinghua University with the title of first-grade professor as well as a special professor of the Yangtze River Scholar Program set up by the Ministry of Education. Chanting Poems of Leisure Study is one of his publications.
