A Journey in Bloom
By Leanne Li / Hua Li
Beyond these walls, the world is drenched in golden light,
Yet here I sit, fingers pirouetting across the keyboard,
Drifting through an ocean of wisdom, wave by endless wave.
At times, I lift my gaze—my Mac, luminous and alive,
Glows like a beacon in my eyes.
And before I know it, my smile unfurls its wings,
Spiraling beyond the window, alighting upon a trembling branch.
If a bird should rest there,
Oh, how we would weave a symphony,
A duet spun from feathered whispers and unspoken dreams.
The clock’s quiet heartbeat lingers in my T100,
Its rhythm intertwined with the trembling strings of my soul.
And there, beyond the glass door—you figure,
Graceful as a brushstroke upon time’s canvas.
I imagine—when you push that door open,
You will step into the garden of my verses,
Into my Eden, drenched in the scent of unwritten poems.
The lanterns shimmer,
Their glow reflecting in the sea of my unwoven words—
A window for you, wide as the horizon,
Snowflakes swirling like love letters cast upon the wind.
And in that moment—your smile will ignite,
A firework unfurling in the hush of midnight,
Scattering the universe, summoning every star.
Radiant. Trembling.
Ephemeral as morning dew upon a rose’s breath.
Disbelieve me?
In a breath, time collapses,
Suspended within the hush of blooming petals.
I will unfurl my sails,
And drift—toward the light in your eyes.
I know—your smile is the oxygen
That breathes my flowers into being.
So I will run, run headlong into the warmth of your voice,
Into the hush of your breath.
And if the ocean dares to rise between us,
I will unfurl my poems like a silver bridge,
Spreading verse upon the restless tides,
So the seagulls may dance upon my words,
And the waves may whisper your high expectation for how perfect I should be.
And in that moment—
The sea will shimmer,
And the fish will leap—
To glimpse the breathtaking dream of you.
Leanne Li/ Hua Li
I Just Want to Say—Thank You
Hua Li/Leanne Li
I just want to say—thank you.
Don’t believe me?
Then tell me why, outside my window,
The world spills in a cascade of color,
Yet I bring my BMW to a quiet halt by the highway,
Turn on my book Mac, tapping out verses
That rise like embers into the night.
No matter how many cars streak past,
No matter the restless symphony of horns behind me—
All I long for is a space,
Where my soul can dance upon the keys.
If only a piano lay before me now,
I would awaken all eighty-eight keys,
Letting black and white weave their waltz,
High notes kissing the depths of low,
Resonating like a lover’s sigh.
Perhaps, in that moment, I would sing—
Just as when, beneath a sky heavy with stars,
I locked away my T100,
Only to turn and glimpse you—
A fleeting moment, yet infinite in its echo.
Like night and day, forever in pursuit,
Yet destined to brush fingertips where the sun and moon entwine.
Like mountain streams whispering to the wind,
Like echoes that linger long after sound has gone.
Even if Tagore awoke from his eternal slumber,
He would no longer sigh in longing,
For tonight, poetry would be born again.
The wind still howls beyond my glass walls,
But I—
I will open one window, two, three—no,
I will press a single button,
Let the convertible roof slip away,
Let the sun rush in,
Let birdsong chase winter’s sorrow from every corner of my life.
And then, like a vow carried upon the wind,
A messenger dove will find its way,
Perching upon the quiet curve of my wheel.
A rose—deep, intoxicating, steeped in Lanc?me Id?le,
Yet kissed with the whisper of Dior J’adore—
Will race through the music, chasing the wind, chasing you.
And within its petals, your smile will bloom—
A firework bursting into the canvas of night,
The fiercest, most untamed rainbow of 2025,
Suspended just beyond my window.
And my poetry—
It will drift upon the Thames like a lover’s sigh,
While a shooting star blazes across my sky.
I just want to say—
Thank you.
